Here are the various components and my test fixture
The coil is a Techumseh small engine coil, very robust and provides a HOT SPARK
I use a 6V, 1100MaH Ni-Mh battery pack. These batteries are available from RC dealers.
This is the potted electronics module, along with the switch and wiring harness.
Here is the battery charging module. A small Wall Wart battery charging transformer is also included.
Shown above is my "Hi-Tech" testing fixture. I use a small, 200 RPM DC Gearmotor. A screw serves as a cam, which trips the microswitch. I run each assembled coil for at least one "battery cycle", from 3 to 4 hrs or more. The micro switch serves to simulate the points, and a small wire is fastened on the left stud to provide the spark path to the center Hi-Voltage stud.
