HERE ARE DETAILS ON HOW I MADE THE THE VALVES AND VALVE GUIDES.  I MADE THESE PIECES ON THE 7 X 10 MINILATHE..

Turning the valve.  Rather unorthodox, but it worked for me.  First I drilled and reamed a 1/8 inch hole, then turned the OD to slightly over 1/8 for a distance of about .250.  Then turned a 45 degree taper on the shoulder.  The 45 degree setting on the compound was not changed from previous.  The piece will be cutoff, the valve stem inserted in the hole, and the two pieces will be silver soldered together.
Turning the 45 degree taper in the valve guide, using a small boring bar.
Here are the valve stem and face.  They will be silver soldered and trimmed next.  The valve stem was long enough to be inserted into the hole, with excess length to be cutoff later.
Just a quick check on the taper fit.  The guide and valve will be lapped later.
