MAKING THE ENGINE CART
Welded steel rim, 9" dia ; 2 1/2" wide, 3/16" thick
Drilling the hub.  This setup used a Spin Indexer so the spokes could be spaced evenly.  Spokes will be welded into the holes, and to the inside of the rim.
The axels use a 1" black pipe, with a solid piece welded into the end.  Two sets of roller bearings were used for each wheel.  Photo shows an axel with the solid piece inserted and the roller bearings.  Also just the solid piece before inserting into the pipe, along with a drilled hub..
Axel with hub placed over needle bearings, large washer and cotter pin.  Zerk fittings were also installed for greasing when needed.
Assembled front axel, showing the bolster.  When greased, the axel turns like silk.  A grease fitting was also placed into the top plate that seats over the round spigot on the bolster.
Finished cart.  The round silver piece is positioned over the spigot, with a zerk fitting installed.
