The Y axis proved to be more difficult (for me) to install than the X. I had to add some stand-off's to position the scale out from the knee so the head would align OK. The scale was checked for parallel in both dimensions using a dial test indicator. The result is as accurate as I am able to measure. The cover is shown installed in the right photo.
Securing and aligning the X axis proved to be much easier. The scale was mounted directly to the table, and checked for alignment is the same manner as the Y axis. The cover is shown mounted in the bottom photo.
The resulting accuracy of the DRO is as close as I can measure using a .0005 indicator, and there is no measurable backlash. So far, I am totally pleased with this DRO.
