A DRO For The Quill
The first step was deciding on a method for mounting the scale.  I made some 1" square Aluminum blocks, with a notch milled on the end, to fit on the front of the head on the mill.  The two existing brackets on the scale attach to these..  A section of 3/4" Aluminum rod was milled flat on two sides, after turning a short spud on the end.  The spud fits into the hole in the moving part on the depth stop.  An angle piece was needed to connect the DRO head to the piece inserted into the depth stop.  This arrangement allows easy removal of the scale if needed, although adjusting the final position of the scale was a little "touchy".
Here are the mounting blocks installed on the mill head, and the round spud inserted into the adjustable depth stop.
The DRO attached.  The top photo shows how the head attaches to the adjustable depth stop.  I allowed plenty of room to still be able to use the adjustable stop.  The spud is fastened using some JB weld.
