The connecting rod was made up from several pieces. In hindsight, fabrication from one piece would probably have been easier. The bearing on the crankshaft end was made from two brass pieces. I superglued the two pieces together, and drilled the holes for the bolts to size for locating pins.
This will assure that the pieces remain in alignment in case the superglue fails, while boring the hole. .
A boring head with special ball bearing center was used in the tailstock when turning the taper. A ball bearing center was also used in the chuck. The ball bearings are held in place with a spot of grease while positioning the rod. Using the boring head to dial in the offset makes this operation easy, and the tailstock alignment does not have to be disturbed.
